Tennis comes up big with a win
ALTOONA, Pa. – On Saturday the Geneva women's tennis team had a road doubleheader, traveling to Penn State Altoona in the morning and then heading on to Mount Aloysius for an afternoon match. The Golden Tornadoes defeated Penn State Altoona, 8-1, but couldn't overcome Mount Aloysius, falling 7-2. Geneva is now 2-1 on the season.
In the first match of the day, Geneva was too strong for the Lions. The Golden Tornadoes won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches. Senior Katherine Deitrick, sophomore Felicity Orndoff, junior Victoria Hinds, senior Michelle Kisiel, and junior Jana Newberry all picked up wins in singles action, and junior Rachael Letterman also helped contribute to the win with a victory in #1 doubles with Deitrick.
Geneva then traveled over to Mount Aloysius, but the Golden Tornadoes couldn't keep the momentum going. Letterman had a big match in #1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0, but then only Newberry was able to pick up another point for Geneva. Orndoff and Hinds lost tight matches in three sets.
